A friend of mine make waste paper baskets.

Fold/roll your paper that you get long but even strips.
These strips you use to braid or weave your basket.
The top you can finish in different ways.
You can tuck the ends back into the weave, neath but hard to do.
You can glue a strip of paper along the edge, fixing in place and covering the ends.
Or you can sew the ends. (I have seen it done, machine sewing, but do not try it on a good machine, I think that a factory or sail makers machine had been used.)

This site, while working with wood, shows pretty good how to do it:

Contact me if you want more info, I am not able to explain it clearly today.

Decoupage small or large items.
Make cards, envelopes, bookmarks, tags, etc.
When I was a kid, we folded the pages of small magazines like Reader's Digest and made them into something to prop a door open with.
