You better look up the instructions in a book on how to do it properly. You could certinly end up ruining your car otherwise.

No, not unless you can find an aftermarket sensor that has the same parameters as the sensor that goes with the gage! Gages and sensors are made to match, and there are many different types. If you do it this, you will never be sure that the gage is giving you the correct reading, or it may not work at all?
