Australia has put up a clinic against India in all facets of the game

Batting, bowling and fielding too

The thing that caught my eye was when Aussies were batting in their 1st innings, even though wickets kept falling down and no shots were available to be played (good discipline by Indian bowlers and no bad balls being put forth), Aussies continue to rotate the strike, keep the scorebard ticking and continued to run between the wickets

they converted 1s into 2s, 2s into 3s and no wonder it looked like they had a "large" total even though they played average cricket

and the middle batsmen forced the issue and played their usual shots instead of waiting around for a bad ball to come by

why can't India do that?

haven't they learned that the wait and watch for the bad ball to arrive to be punished approach doesn't work outside of India (especially in Australia)

when are they ever gonna learn to play aggressive cricket and fight fire with fire instead of being soft and passive?

Well a chance is there.
Ricky Ponting has shown more confidence in India's inability than Australia's ability by declaring earlier.
That is the difference.

A few weeks ago against Pakistan in 3rd test our captain was not willing to diclare even after getting a lead of 300 on a poor, deteriorating wicket.

You mentioned a very important thing that when Indian bowlers were trying to put some pressure on Australia , their batsmen were rotating strike by taking singles.
& they were converting the 2's into 3's.
This is such a huge difference.
They do not allow the opposition to get on top of thjem at any time.
They keep playing their natural game.

Indian players are opposite. They become too cautious when a few wickets fall.

Oh man,it is just a game, just get over it.We don't need to gloat about winning,Sri Lankans are pretty happy as long as cricket is being played, not to mention carrying a few bottles to the ground to enjoy the game more. We do not burn our players houses down even if they got beaten by the Irish ladies team.I don't think Mahela is the overconfident arrogant type and for Mendis it's better than being in the front lines, so expect them to play as usual, that is to the best of their abilities. Win or lose, cricket = party to us Lankans. Mel don't say the curator of Galle should keep his mouth shut,he is a ex test cricketer and he knows what the ground is like. Its his right to predict the outcome.

India just needs two good centuries in this game apart from a Sachin nervous ninety to win. It can come from any two of Dravid, Jaffer or Yuvaraj. These three are the people who risk their places for Sehwag in the next match and will be looking to score big runs in second innings.

Don't forget, the ball is not seaming and Lee and Johnson will be rendered useless on the last two days of this slow pitch.

Well still india can do it. We can refer to our memory of kolkatta test and expect the same from dravid and laxman to repeat.Well indian needs improvement in temprament, fielding, catching, running between the wickets, rotatin the strike and attacking play rather than too much defensive
