Even during the last 10 years they were making the front page of the Tribune and the Herald (After 79 of the 82 games last year they were on the front of the Tribune)

I think it is sad that people only see what they want to see.

1. Ownership of the team has not changed since 1954
2. The current line-up of players and executives (give for 3 at the very top) were all put in place by William and Peter Wirtz (and Bob Pulford).
3. The number of season ticket holders is the same as it has been for the last 37 years (when they increased from 10K to 11K).

If William was still alive, the record of the team would still be the same, and the fans would still be coming. They just needed a reason to come, and the changes ordered by peter last May (which resulted in Lang, Sopel, Perreault, etc joining the team) have resulted in a better a team (without costing a fortune).

Time will tell in 3 years whether William Rockwell Wirtz is any different than William Wadsworth Wirtz when it comes to paying players their fair share!

Aside from the last 10 years where they didn't field a competitive team (Peter's legacy) the team hasn't changed one iota.

I was a 18 year old kid in 1971, went in the Navy and went to school at Great Lakes for 18 months. Never missed a BlackHawk game if I could help it. Was Bobby Hulls last year, the Stadium was sold out every nite, listed as 16,666, but that was without the standing room, of which I was always one, Get to the Stadium at about 5:30, get a $5, first balconey standing room ticket, they opened the doors at 6:00, raced up about 12 flights of stairs to get my spot, behind the goal, oppisite end of the organ, still brings goose bumps to me when I think back on it, HERE COME THE HAWKS, THE MIGHTY BLACK HAWKS!!!!

That is good to hear!! You are lucky to have a guy like Toews. Those youngsters will really be a hit if they stay together for a number of years!!

Its great for hockey and great for the Central division. How can you not cheer for the reemergence of an Original 6 team like the Hawks?

(I just have to hope they finish 2nd in their conference every year.)
