Let's see...

Gotta go with:

1. Jonathan Toews. He is surrounded by equally appealing talent in Chicago, and is coached by a like-minded Hall Of Fame player.

2. Carey Price. He is the more proven commodity than Jon Bernier (my opinion will change if Bernier wins a tourney MVP either in junior or AHL).

3. Marion Gaborik. Again, Gaborik has proven much more (especially with a weak supporting cast early on) than Vanek. What has Vanek done with his supporting cast (other than wilt like a flower, just as everyone predicted)?

4. Jack Johnson. While Erik Johnson will be a fine player (or be the next Brian Lawton, depending on how lucky he is), Jack Johnson will be the guy who garners the Norris votes in due time.

5. Dany Heatley. The jury is still out on Rick Nash (and it looked like Nash would have won this arguement back in 2004, too) while Heatley looks to be the best player of the 2000 draft class.

6. Mike Richards. While the Ryan Getzlaf fans will point to his engraved moniker upon the side of Lord Stanley's Cup, realize this: in twenty years, Richards will have his name upon the silver chalace more often (and as a captain to boot).

Jonathon Toews. He's younger than Kopitar, but farther along at the same stage of his career.

Carey Price. He's the real deal. I'm still not sold on Bernier. I thought he looked shaly Wednesday against the Czech juniors.

Marian Gaborik. Stick Marian Gaborik on Detroit or Ottawa and he's easily a 120 point guy. About a 3rd of NHL GMs feel that Gaborik is among the top 5 players in the world.

Erik Johnson. I think in time Erik will go on to justify the #1 overall ranking. He's got speed and moves already. The rest will come with maturity and experience and so too, I believe, will the Norris Trophies.

Richard Nash. Similar to the Gaborik story. THis is a guy who has more heart and grit and skill than a lot of people give him credit for, and whenever he gets the chance to represent Canada, it shows. Unfortunately, it doesn't show in Columbus.

Micheal Richards. I think this guy is a notch above Getzlaf in a lot of categories, including leadership. he can skate, he can score, and he can lead. He's finally coming into his own this year, and the 1.22 points per game is a testament to that.

Kopitar over Toews (close, but Anze has the same tools plus the size).

Price over Bernier (Right now, Price is ahead of Bernier).

Vanek over Gaborik (Gabby is awesome, but he's also made out of glass).

Jack over Erik (Jack's will be in the next class of great defensemen with Phaneuf).

Heatley over Nash (Sorry Columbus fans, Heatley is the best scorer in the game).

Getzlaf over Richards (Getzlaf all the offensive talent that Richards has, plus the size and the mean streak. Also like Richards, Getzlaf will wear the C for Anaheim before too long as well).

Anze Kopitar (this is really close though, and I still haven't seen Toews enough)

Carey Price (he is already playing well at the NHL level, but again, very close)

Marian Gaborik (hands down, if he played for an offensive team he's easily a 100 pt. guy)

Erik Johnson (not too sure though)

Dany Heatley (very veeeeeeery close)

Mike Richards (no contest, why the hell do people like Getzlaf so much? I've seen him compared to Stastny and now to Richards)

~

Sure Getzlaf has won the Cup, but many players have led their teams to Cups, then disappeared. What about Brad Richards, who won the Conn Smythe in 2003-04? He hasn't been that good since. Cam Ward won it in 05-06, he has not regained that form. Getzlaf didn't even win the Conn Smythe and he's got all these people praising him so much.

Toews(cause of his amazing speed size and skill )

Carey price(no question just by the way he has proven himself in the ahl with the goaltender of the year award and playoff mvp, world juniors mvp, and now tearing up the nhl)

Vanek(the only thing that put vanek over the edge was that gaborick is to injury prone)

erik johnson( good young defensmen future norris trophy winner)

heatley(back to back fifty goal seasons i cant even put nash in the same breath as heater)

getzlaf(with the playoff experience he has earned will help him in the long run)
