Lincoln.
He was well-spoken, he was a wonderful writer, he was principled, he was brilliant, and he was a self-made man--he rose from very little to achieve the highest political office in the country and was, by all accounts, a good man who people loved.
If you ever get a chance to read the text of the Lincoln-Douglas debates or some of Lincoln's personal correspondence where he writes about slavery and the union, I highly recommend it.
And the Gettysburg Address? One of the most exceptional speeches in American history. It is unparalleled in its eloquent simplicity.

My favorite is Teddy Roosevelt. He created the National Park system, and actually left his post as the Secretary of the Navy to ride into combat with the Rough Riders while today's politicans couldn't even make it through Vietnam.
-He is also the President responsible for the Panama Canal

I am glad President Clinton apologized for the annexation and mistreatment of the Hawaiians
I do not like it when Presidents supported expansion at the cost of people who they found to be inferior to whites
I also respect Lincoln, I believe he was the best. I do not like how Teddy favored Imperialism but I do respect his contribution to the environment.

Best were F.D.R. and Clinton. Both leveled the playing field for ordinary, hard working folks. When Clinton left office there was enough of a surplus to pay for social security and gasoline was a dollar per gallon. Worst by far, Herbert Hoover and George W. Bush! Hoover destroyed the economy and W. destroyed our reputation in the world, trampled on the Bill of Rights, attacked a sovereign nation unprovoked and outed an active, covert, CIA operative.

The best, George Washington because he quit after 2 terms and by doing so prevented the US from having presidents for life and made a meaningful elections possible, The worst. FDR because he nearly undid what Washington did.

I'd go with Jacques Chirac.
A man whom stood up for what he believed in even when he was highly criticized and was then the target of various American and British commentators supporting the decisions of Bush and Tony Blair.
Chirac emerged as a leading voice against the Bush administration's conduct towards Iraq. Despite intense US pressure, Chirac threatened to veto, at that given point, a resolution in the UN Security Council that would authorize the use of military force to rid Iraq of alleged weapons of mass destruction, and rallied other governments to his position.
"Iraq today does not represent an immediate threat that justifies an immediate war," Chirac said on March 18, 2003.
- We now know he was right.
Goooo Chirac!!!
The worst is obviously the murdering, ignorant, arrogant, cocky, foolish Mr. George W. Bush. If you don't know why I think that, just read a newspaper or watch the news.

Theodore Roosevelt. He cared for the people and the country, yet had no problem getting tough when needed. Worst is a toss up. Several have hurt the US in varying degrees. In my lifetime,I would honestly say Bush. at least others had good to counterbalance the bad they have done.

The President that took the oath of office when the country was in double digit inflation left office with inflation under four percent and by lowering tax Rates doubled Federal Revenue in ten years.

Washington, I believe. He set the standard by which all other Presidents are compared.
He also established Thanksgiving as our first national Holy-day.

Of all the presidents I have researched or lived through; I'd pick Reagan as the best with Theodore Roosevelt as a close second.
Worst; Jimmy Carter, followed by the exalted F.D.R., the creator of the welfare state.
