Check your power connections. Make sure all plugs are in secure - none loose.

If any of the plugs are warm or hot to touch, have the receptacle checked and the cord to the plugs may have damaged wires inside ( the wires can be broken even though the cord appears to be in excelent shape - broken wires create heat)

If the above checks out OK; have you contacted the cable company support - you are pay for it?

Contact them - it could be a defective cable modem.

Two things...the cable might be faulty including the outlet being used to connect the cable or the signal strength is too weak. If any part of the cable has a crimp or bend it may impede the signal. If you have too many splitters or a faulty splitter the signal may be too degraded to maintain a constant connection. You could also try a signal booster (preferably Motorola signal booster) it may increase your signal strength in case you have to use many splitters. Best to place the booster where the cable signal enters the house or as close to that point as possible. Placing a booster after a splitter may do nothing for you.

Call your Internet Service Provider

It's either the ISP is dropping their signal or your modem is crapping out. I have a cable ISP and they had to replace my modem for the same reasons you state. They also put a signal booster on the connection/junction box it supplies about 10 homes off the one box.
