my biggest fear ever is elevators. okk so heres the story...i went to the beach in august. and we stayed at this really nice place that had only been opened for like a month and a half. well i was gunna take my bro down to the pool cuz thats were everyone was but my boyfriend and gpa. well my sis was gunna come up but decided not too so i had to either climb 4 flites of stairs or take the elevator cause we were on the 12 floor. well i got in and got bt the 3rd and 4th and it bounced and stopped. at first the 911 button wouldnt work and finally i got it to. i was paniking big time and i started freaking out. i was screaming and my bf heard me on the 12th floor. it took them a little over 45 minutes to get me out. talk about scary. i ddint have nothing with me. that was about 5 months ago and recently ive been having really bad flashbacks. is this normal?? what should i do?

Wow, that sounds like a pretty terrifying experience. To realize your greatest fear can unnerve even the toughest of souls, and reliving your fear in the form of flashbacks is probably even worse.

Have you tried talking to your family or friends about it? Sometimes it can help to voice something that is bothering you. Like getting it out in the open gets it out of your system, you know?

If your anxiety continues to get in the way of your everyday life, maybe you can talk to a professional so they can advise you on how to best deal with it.

A fear of enclosed spaces is a pretty common one, so rest assured that you are not alone.

Good luck to you!

With most elevators being hydrolic there was no chance in "falling".To be enclosed in the elevator car is a bit nerve racking but a good maintance crew or local fire department should have gotten you out in less that the quored time.
Most of the time,at beach resorts, the elevator malfunction is caused by debris and/or sand being in the tracks of the elevator door.
All elevators have emergency phones that ring the switch board and they will stay on line with you until help arrives.
