Yes, UNC rejected my friend. He called one of his high school teachers in Chapel Hill and they talked to their professor friends at the university. A few days later he received a phone call telling him they had changed their mind and he was accepted.
(This was after he had applied for three previous semesters and was finally accepted though.)
Good luck........try to use connections no matter how weak they may be.

I've heard of schools making an error and reversing it (in both directions - some schools have had to tell students they accepted that they weren't really accepted after all), but never of them changing their minds. They don't relook at the applications once they reject someone.

No, but I have heard of a college ACCEPTING a person, only to later decide they want to reject them a week before the start of the semester. LAME.........it happened to 2 people i know.

NO! I have heard of potential students applying early though and then being placed on the wait list- not exactly rejected, just not accepted on early admission either.

Oh, yes indeed.
A number of years ago there was a fellow who had done his undergraduate degree in engineering, and applied to a top MBA program. He got rejected.
Well, he's an opinionated guy, who really felt he should have been admitted. And indeed, he is very smart, so he probably had a good case. He wrote them back, and told them they had made a mistake, and that in fact, he should be admitted.
They agreed with him, and he got in.
Today he runs a successful technology company.

No. I've heard of being waitlisted and then later being accepted, but that's it. How weird!
