There has been talk about combining Canada, Mexico and the US into an uber country. Merge them all open the borders and convert to the same money medium....Good Idea? Bad idea? Why?

Well...thank you for the responses...who knows if we will ever merge...BUT...we will however have to change our money medium. Unless we somehow stop this war and stop printing fait dollars and make efforts to get out to debt. Who knows if it will be to Euros but, seeing as though more and more countries are jumping on the ban wagon. Dick Cheney has been securing his money by converting it to Euros..eh well...hopefully we will all be dead 10x over.

Booooo. Perhaps in 100 years, but certainly not sooner. I'm glad I will never live to see it.

Too many constitutional issues at stake......it is no more cowboy country ....let alone the money medium. If you are having the EU as the backdrop all that they have done is to have agreed to disagree or a range of matters. Money medium is not the forerunner to these type of unions. It just simple fetish to show the world that they are united! Like wearing a uniform.
The political question is the forerunner and most of the time the big boy starts bullying or benefitting in the end. Their oil wells get dried up and their citizens start dying. I think it is about time the US takes a considered look at their foreign policies ....and what good has come out of it! You have something against Canada and Mexico.....?

Bad idea. Canada and USA have very different political systems. No country wants anything to do with the amount of debt the US government is currently running and racking up (loans to pay off interest on previous loans from the world bank?!). It wouldn't willingly happen by Canada in the modern times. Canada being a member of the British Commonwealth is also unlikely to give up having the Queen on their (coin) currency . I don't think there's enough benefit for any of the countries involved except maybe mexico but there's not a whole lot of political pressure they could exert to make it happen.

Stupid idea. Unlike the countries that compose the EU, the United States, Canada, and Mexico have vastly different economies, policies, etc. We also differ drastically when it comes to worldwide standing. If we were to merge, the United States would have its economic resources, wealth, and political standing leached by our northern and southern counterparts. Also, look at the immigration crisis. Imagine if these invasive bastards were legally justified in their current actions...

I could see Canada and US, similar history, same language, strong bilateral relations, open border, military alliances, trade alliances. But Mexico? I think Texas would declare independence (and half the states in the area would join it) before that happened.

um.. horrible?
We have enough problems trying to protect ourself now.. Not to mention the questions of "whose constitution do we keep?"
we automatically would assume it would be the US's.. but that's because we live here..
people in Mexico would expect us to keep their constitution.. and the people of Canada would expect us to keep theirs as well..
then, who would run it?
USA would vote for someone from the US
Mexico would vote for someone from Mexico
and Canada would vote for a Canadian..
and then if we kept the checks and balances.. does the political powerhouse stay in Washington DC? or does it move to Mexico City or Vancouver?
These are just a few issues that would need to be addressed
I really don't think it would work..

INTERESTING Idea... Don't know if it'll "Fly..." But it DOES have "possibilities..." (once you get past the Ultra-Nationalists in THIS Country- who think we're God's Answer to heaven on Earth... :( )... Maybe SOME day...-When we "grow up"- alittle more... :)
