None whatsoever, but the invasion has recruited many Muslims worldwide to the al qaeda cause.
The Bush regime now labels any small groups of dissenters that oppose US. corporate domination, anywhere in the world, as al qaeda. It helps keep the American population scared, and attempts to legitimize any military intervention.

Before we invaded ... there were NONE. Now, thousands upon thousands ... all there because that is the one place where they know they can kill Americans. Saddam was a monster, there is no doubt about that, but he wasn't stupid. He knew if the US or some part of the UN could uncover any evidence, anything at all, of there being active terrorist groups in Iraq he would bring the wrath of the entire world down on him. I'm guessing that's why Bush and his cohorts had to make up all the lies about terrorist groups in Iraq ... if he had told the truth he wouldn't have had a reason to attack other than to take out Saddam and I have no doubts at all that a couple of SEAL teams could have done the job a hell of a lot better than this ill advised invasion.
To Mel:
Sorry but you're wrong ... the numbers ARE known and they ARE proven by many, many different sources.
To superiortoyou11:
Boy you really are a piece of work ... also a very bad liar and a disgrace. I think even John McCain would look at you and say "how the hell could you tell what a real soldier is if you can't even SPELL THE WORD RIGHT" ... I know the spell checker here sucks but it is an outright disgrace for you to not know how to spell the word. I just love how you and all your neo-con buddies are saying see, see ... the Surge is working, the Surge is working because violence is down ... it is priceless. Let's be clear on one thing ... the Surge has nothing to do with the decline in violence in Iraq ... not one single thing. The decline in violence in Iraq is for one reason and one reason only ... what is that reason you ask ... simple actually, the violence has gone down because the different militant groups in Iraq have already killed off most of the people they wanted to kill so it only goes to reason that if there aren't as many people left that they want dead then the violence will go down ... I think even my nephew who is in 1st grade is smart enough to see this clear fact ... it boggles the mind that and adult, at least I'm guessing you're an adult, can't see the same thing. I have never met someone who fits into this old say as good as you do ... "My mind is made up don't confuse me with the truth" ... The last statement you make ... "That's what I call Owned in a major way" ... I wish I could see the look on your face when you finally figure out just who "owns" who ... I don't think you're going to like it when you see the truth ... then again, as blind as you seem to be you may not have to ever worry about seeing the truth ... profoundly sad if you asked me.

Almost none, and the few there had to stay under ground because Saddam Hussien hated Al Qaeda, and Al Qaeda hated Saddam.
Thanks to Dubya, Iraq is now a breeding ground for Al Qaeda. The question should be how many Al Qaeda members are there in Saudi Arabia. The answer is millions, because Saudi Arabia is the birthplace of Al Qaeda. Most of the 911 terrorist were Saudis, including Osama Bin Laden. the fact is that we invaded the wrong nation, we should of went into Saudi Arabia.

Al-Zarqawi was in Iraq before the invasion. & as the US was preparing many Al-Q members went to Iraq & prepared as well. Of course, they are now many. & there are other groups with different goals & ideologies, but they all hate America.
The current problem isn't simply fighting Al-Q. Iran & Syria are afraid if America succeeded, they'll be the next. Therefore, they are supporting the insurgents to keep America where it is.

Zero. Saddam Hussein wouldn't let them in; he was afraid that Osama bin Laden might take away some of his popularity as the first Muslim to so stand up to "The Great Satan."
Saddam may be seen as the first one to do it directly, but Osama bin Laden had been seen as the one who struck America directly, not just stood up to America but actually hit America and did damage. Saddam was afraid that would take away his popularity and wouldn't let them into the country to make sure that did not happen.
Now they make up approximately 7-10% of the total insurgency in Iraq. But it is a breeding ground now for terrorists. Al Qaeda just says that it is a fight to throw out occupiers of the land, and they can use this to recruit angry Iraqis (and other angry Muslims--not all are angry but many are because of this war) into joining their fight.
This war has backfired on Bush badly. Let's hope he or the next president can salvage something from it, I'd hate to think so many died for nothing.

If I were to guess, I would say 1% or less of members of Al Qaeda were living in Iraq. It wasn't their base of operations. Afterwards many flooded in, but many are leaving now, they've not had much success. Disliking Al Qaeda is one thing Americans and Iraqis can agree on.

I don't believe Saddam would have allowed AQ in Iraq ?!
Pres. Bush Sr. called Saddam the "Mad Dog Of the ME" ,
Now many Iraqis miss his powerful bark, coz just one bark, would have done what the mighty US military has not been able to achieve after 4 years ?!!
My Best Regards.

According to all the major news sources there were none. They only went into Iraq to help fight against the illegal, immoral US invasion. Now there are too many to count. Bush has guaranteed that we will have another 9-11 in the USA and it will be even worse. God help us.
