No one is ever in total control of their own behavior.

The extent to which a person can be said to be in control of themselves depends, firstly, on which part of them do you define as self. Is the 'self' only the conscious mind, or does it include the subconscious mind, or their whole body.

Even if you count their self as their whole body, people are still partially influenced by universal factors outside of their control, whether, earthquakes, sunshine, etc., ...not to mention advertising.

I believe it's possible to be totally in control, but would require an extremely strong will and a "different" outlook on the world than what fits the "norm". However, due to unforeseen tragedy, medical problems, television(advertising in general). No one in this day and age can expect to be in complete control of themselves.

Of course not. We;re in control only to a small insignificant degree. There's a part that thinks we're in control, but only admits to the possibility of some minor problems in some small areas; war, crime, addiction, genecide. and each with it's own preposterous excuse, The devil made me do it, it's always been that way, it's Gods will. They even put it in insurance policies when they don't feel like paying off: "It's the will of God", we lied about the insurance.
