They immediately swung into high gear to discredit the CIA and get attention away from this report and any investigation that proved it was true.
How did they do that? They announced that the CIA had destroyed video tapes showing CIA interrogators performing torture on suspected terrorists. They even produced a retired CIA agent to state that "water-boarding works".
Collateral damage from that was, the orders for the torture came from the top people in the administration, administration officials knew about the tapes and kept them from Congressional committees investigating torture, and some officials may have known about the destruction of the tapes.
Once again, these people have to break laws to punish people for exposing their lies. An example is the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson.
I am outraged that they were not held responsible for that crime.
Too bad the Congress doesn't have the stomach to consider impeachment.

I always thought that being sane was similar to being pregnant. You either are or you are not. I'm not sure how the "entirely" fits in here. I would like to tell you that I think it indicates he's insane, but that wouldn't be the truth. The Bush administration has, since 911, operated successfully on the basis of inspiring fear. This premise contributed to the knee-jerk reaction of the congress in supporting and passing the "patriot act" and it has worked pretty well for them/him since then. Now he's caught in an embarassing situation. Today he explained that he had been told quite a few months ago that there was some new intel, but that it needed to be checked out for accuracy, and that he was only given this information several days ago. OK, so that means when the President is told that there is some new (meaning 'different') intel, he doesn't ask for at least a cursory overview? Who in the world will believe that! So now, as a politician is obligated to do, he tries to spin this around to make it sound like...yeah, that's what I've been sayin all along." It's pathetic and it's embarrassing to anyone with half a brain. However, I think the American public's unimaginable gullibility makes people like George Bush believe they can say anything and the people will believe it. So perhaps the better question is this: Are Americans in general not entirely sane?

Bush and Cheney planned to invade Iraq from day one of their reign. They thought the American public was stupid enough to believe their 9-11 excuse, but 9-11 had nothing to do with the invasion.

First off, you take a fantasy of liberals and present it as fact. There have been plans to invade Iran dating back 30 years or more. However, there is no specific proof that an invasion of Iran was intended by this administration.
Fictitious or misleading statements seem to dominate your questions.
