I want not to just get them out but keep them out. I don't have closets for my clothes and I have lots of them. I just washed the whites and had to get rid of tons of clothing where the "dust" that gathered on the sleeves and collars and seemed to stain the shirts. Everything hangs on hangers. I was thinking about putting the whites in bags like you get at the dry cleaners. I used shout and tide and bleach but the "stains" still didn't come out. Sad because some of the clothes I never even got to wear. How do you get these stains out and what is a good way to keep them off my clothes?

Yes, keep your whites in garmet bags. I use OxiClean with my regular laundry detergent. Shut the machine off after it fills and let your whites soak overnight.

You can buy (geez they are hard to describe) they are small plastic covers that go over the hanger and hang down just about 5-6 inches. They are made especially to cover the top half of clothes that are on hangers. Do not use a full plastic cover, just a cover for the top part that are called dust covers for clothes. I use them for my coats during the summer to keep the dust off. I just can't remember where I bought them. I just did some research and found this website... www.shophometrends.com and on the top left seach line put in Hanger Hoods. They are $11 for 6

Get some Era plus and rub it on the stains.Allow to sit for a while.then wash on hottest water possible(read label)....That's how I do mine, bleach can be added for the whites. For the future, take a sheet and drape it around the top of your clothing,it will keep the dust off...
