"the first 2 days she was fine"
Then I call coincidence on the caffeine and the fussies.
"Generally speaking, caffeine will peak in your milk about an hour after ingestion..."

edit: jenny523's "lactation specialist" is a birdbrain. Milk is not made directly from the food you eat like that, period!
Good reading:

It can be a problem, but it seems to vary from baby to baby. Usually 1 - 2 cups in no big deal. Maybe stay away from it for a while and try again in a few weeks.
I assume that you will be asking the doctor about it tomorrow.

In my experience, 1-2 cups of coffee will not cause such a dramatic change in a newborn. I would say its probably a coincidence that she happened to start doing that on the day you drank coffee. Newborns can change behaviors and patterns practically overnight, and I am sure at her checkup they will be able to help you understand even more.
Hang in there!!!

I figure you are breast feeding ... i was told by a lactation specialist .... EVERYTHING that you eat/drink the baby eats/drinks.
So if you drink coffee the baby's poop will be dark .... if you arent supposed to drink coffee during your pregnancy, you're obviosly not supposed to drink it while your breastfeeding....
about the chocolate milk comment ... you cant abuse milk.... the lactation specialist also told me you shouldnt drink to much cow milk cuz well it was meant for cows not humans lol
it will affect the baby and i know it's true because it happened to me
I went to change my baby's diaper and it had blood! i freaked out .... sure enough, without noticing, i had to many milk products that day
i stopped drinking milk for a week then went back to a cup of milk a day and the baby's fine.
when u breastfeed you have to be very careful about what you eat cuz it can and will affect the baby.

it very well could be, but poop is a amazing thing, one time its hard and small and another one its runny and clumpy. And dont get me started with the fantastic colors they suprise us with. LoL â¥. Try just waiting it out a week or so more and see if it was just a phase.

Yeah it seems like it is. Sorry, but I agree with your no coffee for a while. May I suggest chocolate milk for a while. Sugar free if you are concerned with that.

I think its caffiene. Not only can it make her restless, but it can also give her gas I think (hence tummy troubles). I've heard that both chocolate and caffiene make the baby's tummy hurt so most definately.
