How can you develop self control? For example, how can I completely ignore someone if I feel irritated with hurtful things they say/do?

kay well, it isn't normal to go up to casually rude people at the cash register and say "I was really hurt by the way you didn't say Thank You, you're grouchy face makes me feel non-important"....

Also, everyone has experiences with petty arguments that aren't worth the time. How can I ignore this better?

We all have to put up with other human beings if we want that paycheck to come in. When we forget what is important, ej. the kids at home who need to eat, wear clothes, and live life solidly and consecutively without interruption... and how easy it is for us to forget and walk away from uncomfortable realities. Would it not be easier to maintain a professional outlook which is empathetic but not binding and you don't have to feel bad if your paycheck is in the way.

1. Stop.

2. Think.

3. Think again.

4. Keep thinking.

5. Repeat 2, 3 and 4 until you decide whatever you are struggling with just isn't worth it.

its not about developing self-control every human has that...its about not being impulsive and thinking things through before you do them...and ignoring someone when they hurt you will only hurt you more in the end maybe try talking to them and letting them know whats going on in your head

Sins can save just as well as destroy a person. My favorite sin is vanity. Be vain, and reflect everything that person does. Be arrogant, it won't hurt you if you hold on to a virtue.
