I was wondering if I could tell my men to follow me on the first halo because sometimes they don't.

I mean the computer dudes on the single player.

No, there's no way to make them follow you. Often times the programming will make them either stay in one spot and defend the area or they'll be set on a path, and only move after you've completed checkpoints. Except for looking at you and jumping in empty seats of vehicles, the computer characters don't interact with you at all. Kinda lame, huh?
If you get mad because they don't wanna move, here's a fun little hint to remove the hate:
Find some army men
Get a needler
Stick 1-2 needles into the man's back
It'll look like a back pain commercial when they hit. :)
Just 1 or two little pink needles will do, it's much more fun to do it over and over again than to shoot them a bunch and watch them blow up.
Although... both are fun. =P

scream at them "stick together team" all the time
tactically, its best to play with a group of friends, or a group that always play together..
playing at some random server with some random players, you might as well just watch your own back.
