I am currently writing a paper for my psychology class on the topic of nature vs. nurture. I am attempting to defend the thesis that it is nurture that determines most of a person's personality. I am having trouble finding sources and experiments to support the nurture theory. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

You will have difficulty convincingly arguing that personality is mostly determined by nurture, i.e. environmental influences. Considerable research has been done on this topic, and consistently the estimate of the influence of nature (heredity) and nurture has been that they contribute about equally to personality traits.

You could more validly argue that nature and nurture both influence personality traits, and to about an equal extent, under average conditions.

A good place to begin searching for this information is the web site below. Also, just google "nature vs nurture," and check out the more promising sites. You will find plenty of information.

If you write of either at the exclusion of the other please include the reasoning that tries to follow either without the other. Both involve the same individual and it is natural that individuals will nurture some sort of understanding of nature. That is the value of other individuals in that we can compare the controversial realities each individual nurtures as his own reality and then shares that reality with others who have nurtured their own reality also. The dominant nurturing ideas survive to guide us in nature. Not to free us from nature but to help us with each other in nature. I guess it would be good to point out some or all of the nurturing involved in our reality and I'm sure there are those who could make use of the information. Thanks for the effort.

Nature is instinct. Nurture is obviously the way we were raised. We all have a personal instinctive quality, yet we are slaves to our lessons. I dare say, logic; reality, and even religion have no foundation. Then the obvious becomes more obvious, what in life has any foundation if not our instincts.

I'll always be me, you'll always be you.
