Scientists know of:
- 8 planets in our solar system
- 3 dwarf planets in our solar system
- 270 exoplanets orbiting other stars.

If you mean how many are in the universe, then the answer is "unknown". We only know of the ones found so far.

It is estimated that about 10% of all sunlike stars have planets
There are over 100 million sunlike stars in the Milky Way
But about 90% of the stars in the galaxy are in or near the galactic bulge - any planets would likely have their orbits disrupted by the different gravitational fields.
So that would leave about 1 million stars in the spiral arms that could have planets.
And that's just our own galaxy.

So there could be a lot of planets out there - we only know of 278 so far.

In our solar system there are 8 planets and three dwarf planets, but more dwarf planets may be added, and other planets may be discovered in the Scattered Disk Region.

Almost 300 extrasolar planets have been discovered and most certainly hundreds more will be discovered when NASA launches the Kepler telescope in 2008. The closest extra-solar system is that of Epsilon Eridani at 10 light years away.

in our solar system there is planets 9 before but now its already 8 because the NASA remove the planet Pluto for being a planet.

our solar system has 10 objects that resemble planets (their definitions very)

there have been about 260 planets found outside our solar system so far.

by observations we estemate there are billions of galaxies out there,
each containing billions of stars.... each star has a strong possibility of have at least 1 planet.

the numbers start to not make sense after close analysis.
It would be easier to say, there are billions of planets "out there"

seriously a billion trillion planets...it's not just some made up number just think a litttle bit and it would look like this 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000...i mean there are billions of galaxies and millions of solar systems inside thm, galaxys and 10's of planets in each one...just do the the math...there are probably millions of planets just like earth...

Up to now astronomers have discovered more than 120 exoplanets, but there must be more.

Bunches. But ones like Earth are hard to find.

There is no way to know the exact number so far.

Hopefully, eventually we will know, but I doubt it.
