Can I download anything for the sims 2, because I tried downloading skins but I wasn't allowed to, do I have to have an expansion pack or something?

Where are you trying to download from?

If it's the Sims2.com website, you have to be registered and logged in to download. If it's on a different website, most are free downloads, but some sites ask that you register before you download.

What exactly are you doing? What error messages are you recieving? Having a little more info here will help us to answer your question a little better.

As far as needing expansion packs goes, if you're downloading something that is made with a certain expansion pack (most will specify), then you'll need that expansion pack in order for the download to work properly in your game.

Were you downloading from EA's 'Sims Exchange?' If so, on the page for what you're downloading, along with all the other info on it, it should say what games are required to download it (sims 2, sims 2 nightlife, etc.). Make sure you only try to download files that you have all the games required for. If that's not the problem, you might have to register with whatever site you're using to download things, or your computer might not be able to handle it. Check the file type, the file size, and things like that.
