Inebriated humans is not an answer! :-P

I was wondering, which animals won't be able to stand up on their own after falling over?

I have heard it with cows - from "cow tipping" myths - however, I don't know how true that is. I know cow tipping itself is not possible, but is it true that if they did fall to their side, they wouldn't be able to get back up on their own?

Are there any other animals that can't get back up on their own after falling? Or is there any history of such animals which Darwin has naturally sent to the recycling bin?

all quadrupeds can stand up after falling, all of them. Those who couldn't in the far past left no descendants. Same goes for animal with 2, 4, 6, 8, etc legs.

Myth...? You can tip cows. They go right over. They get back up again, and they don't like it, and the farmer will shoot at you... but you can tip them.

Fish? A fish cannot right itself if you lay it on its side on a rock a long way away from any water... No, probably not what you meant.
Um. No. Probably not any animals that have that problem- or else, as you say they have long ago been delegated to the recycling bin o'Darwin.

Sadly, cow tipping is not a myth, as I know from a misguided episode of my own youth...all animals can right themselves after falling. Cows, and many other large quadrupeds, prefer to lie on their sternums, however. A cow lying flat out on its side is often a very sick cow - but it could still get up from that position if it were otherwise healthy.

I cannot think of any animal that could not right themselves after falling over, past or present.

Stag beetles have a real hard time of it. It's been a long time, but when I was a kid we would turn them over and the only way they could get back on their feet would be if there was something they could grab onto. So I think on a totally flat surface, they might not be able to get back up.
