For me, the best would be Prisoner of Azkaban. I really, really like the way Alfonso Cuaron handled it; it's so much closer to the way I imagined things from the book. It used to really bug me that the firebolt thing was just tacked onto the end, and that Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs were never explained, and the shrunken head used to grate me to no end; but I have since accepted that there was really no way to be 100% faithful to the book. I've also realized after watching the movie with some of my less Harry Potter-fanatic family members that some of the people that really like the movies could care less about the back story. I've started to see the movies as almost a Cliffs Notes version of the books.

Runner up would be either Goblet of Fire or Order of the Phoenix. OotP was my least favorite book out of the whole series, but I actually liked the movie. I was all set to hate it when it came out, too. I was very surprised. I think that both directors handled the climax of the movies very well.

For me, the worst would be the first two. I think what bugged me the most about those were when something would happen, it would cut to a reaction shot from one of the cast members. Harry got his Nimbus 2000, then they would show a close up of him being happy. Another problem I had with those movies was that when I read the books, I imagined the magical world as kind of dark and Tim Burton-esq, but those movies were so far off the mark (for me, anyway).

I would pick the first as the worst, just because you can tell that the actors are unexperienced, yet I still think they did a good job. More action and suspense would have captivated my attention more.

I'm sorry, but I can't pick just one best, I'll have to pick two. Prisoner of Azkaban was one of my all time favourites, because I loved how Alfonso Cuaron demonstrated his abilities to make a movie adventurous yet touching. Order of the Phoenix is also one of my favourites because I love how they portrayed the emotional aspect of the film. The scenes where Sirius dies and where Harry is possesed are both extremely well done and exceed the standards that were set after the death scene with Cedric in Goblet of Fire.

The first movie I would say is the best, just because it was the first movie and so no one really knew what to "expect"....especially if you hadn't read the book, you wouldn't have known what to expect from the movie.

The third movie I would say was the worst. It just seemed too choppy and I hated how the Firebolt was thrown in at the very last minute, almost like an afterthought. Like, "oh whoops! we forgot this part. No one will notice if we just throw it in at the end".

I loved the Sorcerer's Stone since it was the first time I saw everything brought to life on the screen and Order of the Phoenix, although much too short, was visually very good. My least favorite was Goblet of Fire because it was my least favorite book.

The best Harry Potter movie has to be the Chamber of Secrets because it was really well laid out and Harry and Ron's scenes with Lockhart are amusing every time I watch them. I don't have a worst one, but I would have to say that I don't like it when the filmmakers cut huge chunks out of the film that were in the book and could have been good at helping to advance the plot more - can't name any examples though.
