What's important is not how new the game is, but how new the ps2 is. PS2 lasers last about 5 years of normal use. That's how they were designed, and for a dvd laser it's not all that bad.

Also it's best not to use commercial lens-cleaning products. They are a waste of money and can do more harm than good. They prey on people who are scared to touch the insides of their electronics.
Just wipe the lens very lightly from inside to outside in a circular motion with a q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol.

Depending on the model of PS2, it might be the lens just stopped working. Very common on the very first PS2 models.

this is normal...check the disk make sure there is no scratches or dust on it...then check to see if were you put the disk has dust or needs to be cleaned...if it still dosn't work try going to a game store that sells ps2's and ask if they knew how to fix it!...good luck!

well try cleaning the lens because the lens are the sensetive spot in the ps2 and it might be smudged... try a Q-tip or a cotton cloth to wipe it gently..

sometimes dust gets into the lese and just needs to be clean. so try to clean that, this is a normal problem with a ps2.
