I haven't in a long time...but I used to take my kids to Chinatown in DC to view the parade, shop at street vendors, eat and watch the performances of the dragons and dancers and musicians

No, but a good net friend in Jakarta, Indonesia does, being
chinese. She gathers with her family for dinner and they give
each other red envelopes with money inside, instead of
gifts. I believe they are meant to bring good luck, like the
color red, is.
Sometimes they go to a fancy buffet at a very fashionable
restaurant in Jakarta. And eat from a huge array of dishes
spread out on the buffet tables. The room is draped in red
and gold, from pictures I have seen in the past. From the
food I saw, they had heaping piles of lobster and crab,
and shrimp, and other fish. And then there were the noodle
and rice dishes, and vegitables galore. I guess the idea was
to eat until you couldn't eat more LOL.

Never have- but where I live fireworks are only legal 4 times a year and Chinese New Years is one of them-only I don't think there are more than ten Chinese (or other Asian) persons in the entire state.

A Chinese couple and their 2 children moved to my town and opened a restaurant - I got a job there, and we became good friends. When the restaurant closed (I guess not many people in this narrow minded town like Chinese food) they moved back to Chicago and we kept in touch until he died, she moved out to CA. During the time that we were friends, they always had us over to celebrate the Chinese new year. Talk about a party !! And Chinese food like you have NEVER seen in a restaurant !! YUMMY !!! I miss them ----
