Yet another purpose of life question. Here is the answer. The purpose of life is to live it. Thats right. It is no big mystery or secret. Take each day as it comes and live it to the fullest. That is the only purpose of life.

Of course, your question requires God. Natural processes, e.g. evolution, by themselves do not provide any purpose. It would be like asking the purpose of water running downhill or asking a cloud the purpose of a raindrop.

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (mathematician, philosopher and Nobel laureate)

If we admit that God exists, then we can see that He must have put our intense need for purpose into our human nature to point us to seek Him. And so seeking our Creator is our purpose.

If we reject God, then we have no real purpose, but we need to at least have the feeling of having purpose even if we don't have the reality. So we invent "reasons for living", attach great importance to our invention and delude ourselves into the idea that our invention is what we "are really here for". It is an exercise in self deception. If you've seen the movie, "The Matrix", inventing reasons for living is the same as surrendering to the Matrix.

Life does not exist for a purpose, it is a natural process when the matter is formed in such a mysterious way, animated by some kind of physical and chemical processes which still the humankind have not been able to explain. What is true is that, we, in its presence are conscious about our environment, needs, social behavior and also the death. So we are involved in such a compromise to live and search what supposedly fill our expectancies to feel them as best as we can, in other words, we have to fight in a very competitive world to find what conforms our happines, and that is the purpose you are looking for.

the actual purpose of life (from a catholic point of view) is to live a holy life abiding by Gods laws and to raise your kids the same way. that is your "duty". but other people will have a different point of view. you are responsible for not only your own soul but also your childrens because its your job to raise them

To be born and learn from the experiences you live through, to behave and to learn what you can then teach others. To live the best life you can with honesty and integrity and to die with dignity when the times comes.
