Not sure if many younger people can relate to this, since downloading kinda changed the entire concept of albums, but anyone can chime in. :) When you can, tell why you like that particular cover.

Post a link to them! Visuals are always more fun! :)

some of mine:

Rubber Soul- Beatles

I love the hint of psychedelia w/ slightly distorted the fish eye lens view. Also love the earthy suede colors they're wearing. They weren't even at their peak yet for this strong album.

Close to the Edge- Yes
http://www.ferhiga.com/progre/portadas/yes-ctte.jpg

The 1st Yes album w. the classic Roger Dean logo. Simple & yet totally reflects Yes' sound.

Fly By Night- Rush

lol! I'm biased! But the owl's piercing yellow eyes burn right through you while deep blues contrast them nicely.

Wild stuff, Jake. 'Armor' & "Fiancee' remind of stuff Pink Floyd woulda used.

Cinnamon- I am loving Nox Arcana's Carnival of Lost Souls! Nice one!

To all who listed the well known classics, how can I disagree? :) Some album covers are simply iconic. (eg: Pink Floyd's "Dark Side...")

Though the music is tough for me to swallow, I love Blind Guardian & Iced Earth covers:

Ok my favorite 2 are "The Stranglers The Raven" in full 3-D definitely worth framing, and The Rolling Stones "Her Majesty's Satanic Request" I also do like Sgt Pepper. Roger Dean also has great album covers. I feel like going home and looking through my collection now because I know I am leaving someone out, but the original 3D Raven really is tops.
Oh yea, Hawkwind's Space Ritual is also real cool.

I've always been partial to the Done With Mirrors album cover by Aerosmith. Maybe I'm just extremely simple minded but I get amused to hold up the cover and read the letters reflect the correct way. Kind of stupid, but clever.

Other great album covers were

GENESIS- trick of the tale, Wind and Wuthering and Lamb lies down on broadway

FRANK ZAPPA- One size fits all

PINK FLOYD- The dark side of the moon, Wish you were here by Hipgnosis...
