For example you have a white elephant exchange and the limit is $30 but the person's gift you got it worth $15?

I think what ticks me off most is these people wanted to bump up the gift price to $50 this year.

I just find these people very cheap. The entire family is extremely generous with their kids and this is what they do. Sorry it's cheap. If I get a gift that is on sale for $15 and was $30 then I think great I can get this person more stuff.

Sorry it's cheap. If the limit is $30 that's what it is.

The limit is $30 you don't go over. You don't have to spend the whole $30 if you don't want to but, I would at least aim for $15-20. $30 is a lot around the holidays for a gift exchange. In my opinion I would never be in a gift exchange that was that costly anyway. My limit is $10-15, no more. I would rather spend more on my family or friends...

If a gift is regular $30. and I can get it on sale for $15. I am buying it. There ... I have a nice $30 gift and I save some cash. My reasoning on this is... if I purchased it yesterday for $30. and then it goes on sale a few days later... for $15.00 that is my loss... but the gift value is still $30.00
plain and simple!!

Everyone interprets these things differently. If something is the upper limit, and a lower limit isn't given, then anything under the limit is acceptable.

Also..the person who purchased it may be struggling financially and could really afford it.

A gift is a gift....if you start comparing value then you're sort of losing the meaning of Christmas, don't you think?

Nah...I would not be mad. The "limit" is $30..that does NOT mean the gift has to be $30. Try to keep the spirit of the season in focus, my dear.

Maybe the person that put the gift in was having financial problems and that was all they could afford. Forget about it, their are more important things in life.

No, the *limit* was $30- that doesn't mean you have to *spend* $30. Maybe they couldn't afford to spend $30.

No,thats why there is a limit. You should be glad you got a gift the price isn't important, that's not what Christmas is a bout.

just be grateful for what you have now!
I mean gosh, think of the African babies who can't even have food.
Think of the people who would die just to have $15.
go to a homeless shelter, then see if you're ticked.
