I think Oprah helps Obama because he's the same race as she is. She may deny that's the reason, but Obama has absolutely nothing to contribute as President.

Oprah is a citizen and has the right to promote the politician of her choice, just like everyone else.

Because she believes what he says and as the political custom dictates, she supports the one she agrees with.
Though I think it's amusingly pitiful that he needs her to boost his image as a candidate, still, I don't know why it's such a big deal to people that she's chosen to support him.

Because she is extremely popular with most people from both sides. She is also noted for helping the poor. He isn't necessarily noted for either so she fills in this spot.

because he is black, she has never supported any political candidate, so why now, because he is black, and she wants to see a black president. Want proof, listen to her speech, how many times does she reference civil rights issues.
