(3x4+12)x12+54-(7x3+5)
I assume the x's are multiplication signs.

First, do the calculations inside the brackets, and work your way out like the first responder said, so
=(3x4+12)x12+54-(7x3+5)
=(12+12)x12+54- (21+5)
=24x12+54-26
=316

Always do the multiplication/division in the parentheses first:
(3X4+12)= (12 +12)= (24);
(7X3+5)= (21+5)= (26).

So now your equation looks like this:
(24)x12 + 54 - (26). Order of operations says that you do multiplication/division before addition/subtraction, so you need to calculate (24)X12 next: 24X12= 288.

The equation is now 288 +54 -26 = 316 (now it does not matter which operation you do first: (288+54)-26 =316 as does 288 + (54-26)=316). Hope this helps!

3 times 4 = 12 + 12 = 24 x 12 = 288 + 54 = 342
7x3 = 21 + 5 = 26 342 - 26 = 316

For this you have to use the order of operations. You can use
PEMDAS, which stands for:
P:parenthesis
E:exponents
M:multiplication
D:Division
A:Addition
S:Subtraction
An easy way to remember this by the phrase "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally" or PEMDAS.You can make any phrase to help you remember.
So you write it out:
(3x4+12)x12+54-(7x3+5) Now we do parenthesis first. Now
(12+12)x12+54-(21+5) even inside the parenthesis , we
have to follow the order of
operations. Since there are no
exponents in the parenthesis, we
check for multiplication and it if
there is any. Since there is some,
we do it. NEVER SKIP AHEAD IN ORDER OF OPERATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(12+12)x12+54-(21+5) Now we check for division. There is
(24) x12+54-(26) none, so we check for addition. There
is some, so we do it.
Now we get rid of the parenthesis and continue.
24x12+54-26 There is multiplication, so we do it.
288+54-26 There is no division , so we check for
342-26 addition. There is addition ,so we do it.
316 Now we check if we can do subtraction.
We can , so we do it.

The final answer is 316!

Hope that helps!

PEDMAS - Parentheses, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction (in that exact order). So 3x4 =12, 12+12=24. 7x3=21, 21+5=26. 24x12+54-26. 24x12=288. 288+54=342. 342-26=316 - Final Answer.

Are those x's multiplied by or x in the algebraic term? If they're x in algebraic, it makes no sense, if x as in multiply then its an exercise on presidence. Follow these rules:

1) Brackets first
2) Multiplication and Division before Addition and Subtraction

So:
(3*4+12)*12+54-(7*3+5)
=(12+12)*12+54-(21+5)
=(24)*12+54-(26)
=288+54-26
=342-26
=316

316

first you do whats inside the parenthesis() and the you times (3x4+12)x12 and that solves to be (12+12)x12 and that equals 288 then you times (7x3+5) and that equals 26 then you subtract that from 54 and you get 28 then you add the two totals together and that is your answer.

There are two interpretations to your problem.

= ([{3 * 4} + 12] * [12 + 54]) - ([7 *3] + 5)
= ([12 + 12] * 66) - (21 + 5)
= (24 * 66) - 26
= 1,584 - 26
= 1,558

or

= ([3 * 4] + 12) * ([12 + 54] - [{7 * 3} + 5])
= (12 + 12) * (66 - [21 + 5])
= 24 * (66 - 26)
= 24 * 40
= 960
