The Astros got some new good players during the offseason(Miguel Tejeda, Jose Valverde, Kaz Matsui, Michael Bourn
) and some prospects and including there remaining good players(Lance Berkman, Carlos Lee, Hunter Pence, Roy Oswalt, Ty Wigginton). Do you think they could be contenders for the NL central title

Hey Chipmaker i don't care about clemens taking steroids. He is the one who screwed himself over and he didn't take steroids during his time with houston it was when he was with the yankees and the blue jays. If we sign him that would be a mistake he is getting old and with the injuries last years no one would want to sign him

and they added darrin erstadt today. yes they can compete for the title in baseballs weakest division. so far this winter they have improved defensively, added power and speed and replaced a head case closer with a potential stud not yet in his prime. on top of all of that, phil garner is no longer calling the shots. erstadt will make sure everyone hustles all the time, while improving the bench. only question is the rotation after oswalt.

Depends on a few things...if Brandon Bake and Chris Sampson is going to be healthy that would not be a bad rotation Roy, Brandon, Wandy, Woody, and Chris...and they have a good closer....the bats are in place and let just hope that the pitching can pull through

Yes, did you watch the NL central last year. The astros should be in the thick of things next year in their division at the very least.

They sure can, they still need work on their rotation in my opinion, but that lineup is as good as it gets in the N.L.
I really like the acquisition of Valverde a very reliable closer!

Even Pittsburgh is a contender in the NL Central! That's why they play 162 games on the field.
