It *IS* true.

Clinical studies have shown that landlords are incapable of lying, stretching the truth, exaggerating, telling falsehoods, or otherwise misleading tenants and potential tenants.

By giving you this advice, he is not only saving you a lot of time and trouble, he is also saving the planet, by decreasing the amount of greenhouse gasses you would emit driving around town looking for "FOR RENT" signs.

In addition, according to State Law # 45.6a Paragraph 9, "It is hereby illegal for any landlord, or an agent of a landlord, to in any way utter a falsehood of any kind, particularly in the area of affordability, when talking, writing, or communicating in any way to a tenant, potential tenant, relative, stranger, police officer, government agent, or each other. Violation of this law is punishable by torture and death."

Clearly, you have found the Place of Your Dreams. Do not spoil it by reading the lease before you sign it. No landlord would make you sign something you didn't want to sign, and all that tiny type will just give you a headache anyway. Make sure you give him TWO blank checks, one for your deposit and one for rent.

Welcome to your new home!

in short...bull*****. they're just trying to keep you as renters so they don't have to go through the task of cleaning/renovating your apartment and shelling out money to pay to advertise for a new tenant. Do your own research, and if you find something affordable and to your liking..kick this landlord to the curb..call his/her bluff.

Why is he telling you that? Does he want you to stay? If you are wanting to move, start looking or go through an agency that finds available rentals for you.
