This happened in my community. The person didn't lose their house, but the county held the property until the IRS could audit that person to see if they had financed the home purchase with illegal income. I think they had to pay back IRS over $100k, and then kept their home. Had they not been able to pay, the county would have seized it.

Fact is the DEA will take the house and cars and all possessions in home and sell them.
Then the DEA will take the money from the sales and buy what they term "toys" with it.
Toys being rediculous armored vehicles , military grade weapons, body armor and even small things like food , liquor drugs , personal items , etc.
Any money or cash found can and will be pocketed by the individual whom discovers it first.
If it's a larger amount then only what the agents can hide in there vests and armor will be taken and the rest will go for evidence.
However , soon the government will be forced to back off of these arrests and monies will be channeled to more important areas in the drug war.
If you choose to grow marijuana on a mass scale then it's advised to have all your assets in a way that there is no link to it. Meaning assets were obtained legitimately .

First of all, you would have to wait until the plant itself grew buds, IF it grew buds. Not to mention you would have to run up your electricity bill with a hefty cost to grow it, and on top of that, if you do live in an apartment or rented home, your landlord will prolly want to know what the hell you've been doing. Now if nobody you know squeels on you, would would prolly be able to smoke and toke whenever if the plant got big enough. The way it works, though, is you don't smoke the leaves, you break off the bud of the plant, break it up into pieces, either roll it in paper or roll ir in a blunt, throw it in a pipe, throw it in a bong, or make a GB (Gravity Bong). Email me on detailed instructions on how to do all of these.

...most States have seizure laws... if the State Attorney determines that the house was a public nuisance for the cultivation of the plants, "they" can seize the house and the County Sheriff will auction it off... but like I said...it depends on the State and other factors...

It is my understanding that asset forfeiture laws allow the Federal Government to seize the property and sell it, keeping the proceeds to help pay for the war on drugs. If they are found guilty, that is.

Your neighbors sound like a real bunch of winners.
From what I've seen, the house will be seized and sold.(great way to pick up a bargain, watch your newspaper for the sale announcement.)

Simple. It is subject to seizure or forfeiture because of the illegal operation. It depends on if the law enforcement people file with the FEDs to get forfeiture. Until that is decided, they cannot sell it legally or borrow money on it.
