i want to make a separate email address for college but the one i want sounds like a drug when first reading it...at least i think.

ellisd

for my name Drake Ellis

does ellisd sound like LSD (the drug) to you upon first glance? would you reccomend i choose somehting else that colleges will see? is this something to consider or is it a non-issue?

also does dellis@yahoo.com just sound wierd to you? lol it does to me but im critical of a lot of things.

Don't use "ellisd" for sure. That definitely sounds like LSD. I work at a university and I always see some weird email addresses. Definitely makes you wonder. Especially if you are trying to get admitted - you don't want anyone on the admissions committee to see something that sounds drug-related. I think "dellis" works - I don't think it is weird at all.

Best of luck to you!

You are very observant - it might not have occurred to me, but now that you mention it, I think you might do better with dellis than with ellisd. dellis@yahoo.com doesn't sound particularly weird. Keep in mind, though, that people will have access to your full name, so even if they see the ellisd name, they will understand that it IS related to your name. I had to send out an email to students in my department this year to remind them that names like sxybikinichick@ or babypoopypants@ weren't appropriate to use when applying for jobs and internships!

haha I would never have thought about it. To be honest I doubt that anyone will actually see your email address, they just store it in the computer and they send out mass messages, not individual ones. For the most part you get an email address from your college anyways with the .edu at the end instead of .com.

ellisd does sound like a drug at first sight. I'd pick something else if I were you.
