I would like a president who cares about the American people and will tell us the truth. I don't care if he is green as grass. A high ranking member in a church doesn't bother me as long as he is honest and dependable.

I don't happen to think that any of those things apply to what I am looking for in a President! Especially not the high ranking Minister of a church! Almost anyone with brains knows how the Senate & Congress work without ever having been either, so I'm not too impressed with that. Hillary's experience of having been the wife a President doesn't count for me either, the buck didn't stop with her! What I'm looking for is someone who realistically states what he will TRY to do if elected President, not empty promises that they cannot deliver.

Most candidates for president like to run as -outsiders-. 'Seasoning' and experience are a negative. Candidates who do have experience try to play it up, but those who don't will point to the other candidate's experience as presumptive evidence of corruption.

For all of Bill Clinton's two terms, Republicans claimed that Hillary was the brains of the outfit, really running things in the White House. They even called them Billary. Yet today they claim she has no experience. 8^)

Look at GW Bush. Probably the least qualified man ever to run for president. In fact, he bragged about his ignorance. "I don't need to know that," he would say, "I can hire someone who knows that." And yet Republicans who criticize Hillary or Obama for lack of experience continue to defend Bush.

As for a high-ranking member of a church, I think the Republicans are shying away from the Religious Right in this election. Huckabee has been able to carve out a niche for himself as the Christian Candidate because the others are trying not to be identified so closely with Christianity. But Huckabee's version of Christianity will be too 'liberal' for many fundamentalists.

Among the Democrats, I'd prefer Kucinich, as he is the only one to take a firm stand against the agenda of the warmongers, but Obama second, as he is the only "top-tier" Democrat who hasn't outright stated that he supports attacking Iran (to eliminate that non-existent nuclear program and to bring "democracy" to Iran; the reasons given for the Iraq War were very similar, eliminating non-existent "weapons of mass destruction" and bringing "democracy" to Iraq). Obama is ambiguous on his views and, while the Israel lobby rates him lowest among the candidates (they don't rate the candidates who take a firmer stand against war; Giuliani is their top-rated candidate), he still refuses to take a firm stand and state that he will absolutely not bomb Iran (which is why I'm not going to vote for him ahead of a candidate who is firmly anti-attacking Iran).

Among Republicans, Ron Paul is my preferred candidate. Yes, his social views are far too conservative (though he is nowhere near as extreme as his fellow Republicans) and he may go a little too far on some of the economic issues (though the government needs to spend alot less money, especially on welfare for the wealthy), but he's the only "major" candidate who is firmly anti-war, so I'm voting for him in the primaries.

Generally, I don't care about what job title somebody has, provided that they advocate sound policies, especially on the extremely important issues of foreign policy (the defective foreign policy of Imperalism directly led to 9/11 and will lead to more 9/11s unless it is dumped).

The answer is obvious: seasoned senator.

A senator is supposed to be senior or politically seasoned than a congressman.

As we are looking for a president or leader for the country, we dont need a church leader.

However, the merits of any presidential candidate are: experience, qualifications, hardworking, compassion, electability, etc. Hillary is a good example ;-))

Oh actual I remember a instructor telling me as quickly as that the church had suggested this on call comprehend and ettiquite: we are able to be stated as "Mormons" and it is great. and we are able to assert you're a "Mormon" and that i'm a "Mormon". "Mormonism" is likewise ok, on the grounds this is our "ism." we could no longer say we prepare Latter-Day-Saintism, see? what they do no longer prefer us to call it is "the Mormon church" or "i'm a factor of the LDS Church." As for "LDS," through fact the whole acronym could be see you later it may defeat the objective, "LDS" on my own is great. by employing affirming that we are LDS, we mean that we are latter day saints of the Church of Jesus Christ. I don't think that matters. What we need is someone who will do the job properly and much better than it has been done in the last 20 years. Gosh I miss Ronald Regan.

Huckabee -- don't think he's electable, but I prefer him over "seasoned" insider Hillary Clinton. Whitewater.

Guiliani -- boring. Already talks like a Washington insider. Lacks the stand against illegal immigration that I'm looking for.

B. Hussein Obama -- I have serious doubts over his patriotism. Also, I don't want to "contribute" my hard-earned money for universal healthcare for illegal aliens.

Sen. Clinton -- evil to the core. Again, don't want to contribute to pay for universal healthcare for every illegal alien who sneaks across our border.
