It is kind of a generalization of Americans you are referring about. Maybe you aren't talking to the intelligent and informed Americans. But yeah our culture is a bit oblivious to affairs outside of our own borders. I think the reason we are ignorant to places like Canada, is because you guys are essentially under our protection and we don't see you as a threat so we let you guys be. Don't want to seem arrogant but if I reversed this question, what do you most Canadians know about Mexico? Namibia? Liechtenstein? Overall I'd be safe to say that not much is known about these countries by the majority of Canadians. Now if we ask you what do you know about USA, England, Germany, Japan, China, Russia, etc then chances are is that you'll know more about those then since they are big players in the world scene. But yeah in a simple way to put it Canada has a low profile in our radar.

I have been to Canada fishing, hunting and as a tourist many times, and I did not realize that I was a know nothing. I do think that some states that do not border on Canada may know less than the states that cross over the border frequently like we do, but exactly what do we not know? Snow houses? As in Igloo type snow house? I think we to often think that of Eskimos, but I did not know we thought that of Canadians. I can even go to Florida and see a lot of Canadians. I can go to Arizona and see a lot of Canadians, I know they do not live in snow houses there. What else I do not know, I do not know.

On a political message board I can see where a person could get the idea that Americans aren`t too smart, but this is probably due to highly developed media manipulation of political opinion. Products and services are not the only things the advertising industry is selling, and there is no reason to assume it is any less effective in other fields.

How wrong you are!
The average - indicating approximately 50% - American knows quite a bit about your nation. We just don't worry about you.
Your country is a good neighbor, quit trying to stir up trouble.
I could use your reasoning(?) and surmise that Canadians aren't very bright: "canadians" capatilize much?, "didnt scantion" 'Check Spelling' can be your friend. Also, you might consider proof reading, checking for punctuation, etc..

Because liberals only want to teach how horrible American imperialism is and how great the utopian theory of communism really is. American history classes don't give much if any aboutthe rst of the world. Kind of like when Eurpeans come to the western states and wonder where the attacking Indians live.

I have thought of the Canadians as good neighbors,
We probabably know little about you, because you are not a threat to us.

Because we are being dumbed down by the politically correct government schools. Not all Americans are dumb. The future in this country is scary if it continues in this direction. This is why private schooling and home schooling have become so prevailant in the US.
