Why else would she be standing thru her vehicle's sunroof (fully exposed) 2 months after she already experienced another assassination attempt?

She knew what she was in for. I think that there was a bit of religious zealousness in her that unwisely thought that God would protect her. Her expectations were highly unreal. She had no chance of winning the election and the best that she could have done would have been to form a coalition government with her political enemies. Scratch another zealot.
I don't think that Musharraf had anything to do with it. The last thing that he wanted was for her to become his martyred political enemy. She had already become his alive political enemy. She was more of an annoyance to Mush than a real threat.
Mush is not a bad man. He's probably the only man that has the potential to keep the lid from completely blowing off of Pakistan. He does not have an enviable job. He has a disloyal group within his military and intelligence service that are sympathetic to the terrorists and the Taliban. He's got to wipe them out first.
I think it's time for him to suspend civil liberties again, stamp out the Islamic Fundamentalist terrorist cockroaches, unleash the Pakistan Army (they are very capable) in the Pashtoon mountainous area, kill Osama bin Ladin and crush the crazy, religious kooks that want a Muslim republic. A lot of blood needs to be shed before Pakistan can be safe, secure and returned to democracy. It's is going to take the iron fist of a determined dictator to pull it off. The Muslim world doesn't know any other way.

This is sad, but I predicted she would be killed soon after Christmas. Hate when I know things. But it was only obvious. After the first attempt. You would think she would have been careful. She wanted protection, even asked the UK and our Country. So, we are now expected to protect a political figure in another Country? I admired her. But, I knew that she was going to be a target. Don't even know if Musharraf was involved. Sure could be. She was a real threat to him. He had to stand down from the Military to stay President. Does he control the Nukes over there? Or is it the Military head? At any rate, this could be more detrimental to our Country too. Every where Bhutto would go before she went back to Pakistan. Her life was in danger. She was out in the open with citizens, calling to Musharraf to step down. On a Bull horn. Don't think she was being very careful. Then she sends an e mail claiming that if something should happen to her. Then she will hold Musharraf responsible. Not sure what to make of all of this.

I thought about this too after I heard what happened to her. She HAD to know her life was in serious jeopardy. I admire her will to go forward and try to change her country. But now, because of poor judgment, what do the people have? They are saying the elections will go on as scheduled, in 10 days. How is anyone supposed to step into her shoes?

No. She knew the risks that she was taking to make a difference. She love her country that she wanted to make a difference.
This is parallel to Pastor Bonhoeffer going back to Germany before World War II to help his people.
This courage is know though out history.

Another example of terrorism run amok in a third-world cesspool country. Make no mistake, Bhutto was no friend of America -- she refused to assist in any sort of anti-terrorist actions against Al-Quida and the Taliban. Everybody kills everybody else in that part of the world-- unless you are in power and you fill the jails and gulags with your enemies. That idiot that's in power at the moment is completely power mad, but what are WE to do? The situation is what it is and for now we (the U.S.) is forced to deal with the devil (no matter who he or she is) in order to protect ourselves. The problem with terrorism is that -- it works. What person in their right state of mind would dare run against the opposition party now? Fear is a great motivator..

It was either naivety or hubris. I'm thinking the latter, since she returned from "self imposed" exile stemming from corruption charges when she was PM.

I THINK THAT WAS SOMETHING FOOLISH ON HER PART.
SHE KNEW SHE WAS A TARGET SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT.
