Babies from German people only begin to understand, speak, and think in German when they are exposed to German. After hearing parents and other family members speak German, the baby will begin to understand and think in German and eventually to formulate words and sentences of his own.

Before being exposed extensively to the parents' language, I don't know if anyone can say what "language" babies think in. I'm not sure if their thoughts are formulated in a language at all.

One thing I've wondered before: Is it possible for us to think without words?

Baby's don't think in any language as they don't aquire language until they're one and a half to two years old. When they reach that age they aquire the language they're spoken to, so if the child is spoken to in German then yes they would be thinking in German.

Excuse me??? What?

People think in the language they are taught to speak, but the majority of human "thinking" is done in images, not in words, of any language.
