Typically 250 cc or less, although there are sometimes ones on the range up to 500 cc. I took the class on a Honda CB125 myself. Common range bikes seem to include CB250 Nighthawks, Rebel 250s, XT225s, and Virago 250s. But occasionally you'll see a Ninja 250, and the Harley version of the MSF uses a 500 cc Buell Blast.

The CBR is going to be somewhere from 5 to 10 times as powerful as an MSF range bike. It's not very forgiving of newbie mistakes. I'd recommend riding around for at least six months on a 250 to 500 cc sport bike before you try a race replica bike with over 100 hp like the CBR. This'll make it a lot easier to learn and help you become a faster rider.

The course I took used 125cc and 250 cc Suzuki cruiser bikes. You can buy any bike you want if you have the money.A 600cc sport bike is pretty powerful for a new rider. A 600cc cruiser is not considered overly powerful as a beginner bike. Get plenty of practice and always act as if the other guy does not see you.

I saw a video in which most of the motorcycles were Honda Nighthawk 250, one was a Kawasaki Ninja 250, and one looked like a Suzuki DR250.

You bring & ride your own bike.
Nothing with 'R` in the designation is a
"good first bike".
