Since they have fish parts from the waist down, I would guess that they lay eggs and the mermen fertilize them. Since they're mythological creatures, maybe they don't reproduce at all.

I guess they have invisible holes in their tails and they become visible when they are about to mate, and then mate like humans do. Just a guess.

they eat a special kind of fish and 9 months later, they have to either get a c section, or it comes from any available hole on their bodies such as nose, mouth,ears, or belly button. lol
