My husband puts his gym shower shoes in the washing machine. What is best method to clean them?

You can wash them in the washer, BUT, only thru the wash cycle. DO NOT let them spin. Take them out rinse in the sink and let them air dry.

They should be cleaned manually with a brush and sponge and detergent
