Well good ol XP sometimes does that. Just go to control panel -- Network Connections and you can get to it there.

If your computer was setup you may even find that
Start ----> Connect To will let you get to it.
Once you have it and connect the icon will come back.

The other possibility (if its a laptop) is that you have the adapter turned off. nearly all laptops have a switch, either an actual button or a function key that will turn off the radio. (They say it saves the battery when you aren't using the device!)


The Control panel will always show the adapters.

Of course all of this makes the assumption that you are on a computer WITH a wireless adapter - not all computers have one.
