Okay. I have just cleaned out my old cases of CD's (computer games, mostly) and have about 200. I was wondering if there is any thing anybody out there has done with them, becuase throwing them out would seem like such a waste. I don't know what things to do, but just like odd crafts, or something like that. Also, links for directions would be helpful, ; ).

do you still have the artwork from the CD? use them to make a permanent collage of all your "fave" music from back in the day. if you are talking about the actual CD, hmmmm...
okay, you got me there... the only thing i can think of is making a curtain/screen out of them for privacy either inside or in the back yard. that is, if you are into that kind of art.
good luck

i have seen a mobile mabe out of old cds. you glue 2 of them back to back so the shiny side is out and make as many pairs as you want. then tie fishing line throught the holes of the pairs and make strings of cd pairs, maybe 5 pairs per string. tie the tops of the strings to a coat hanger or something prettier would probably be better, i'm thinking a foam ring from a craft store (usually used to make a wreath). of course a foam ring would no be very durable, but you get the idea, something round to tie them to, and you can decorate the roundish thing on top, too. hang the mobile in the sun and it will catch the sun and reflect nice colors!!
my description might be confusing, can see it in my head but it is hard to describe. i saw this at the state fair in the curtural building a few years ago. the mobile was decorated with all kinds of random shiny objects and was titled something like "landfill rescue" or something to that effect.
good luck!!

All of these are good ideas! No one suggested making a "bead" curtain with them, using two stringing pinholes on top and two on the bottom, so that the Cds don't turn around, but hang flat. If you let them turn freely, they would virtually "disappear" when they turn sideways. You could try either alternating front and back, or just the shiny side, with the other side of the curtain using the music art for decor.)

I once saw on Trading Spaces that they took old CD's and strung them up making a cd "curtain" in a room to use like a divider. Similar to the beads people hang in their doorways.

You can make a disco ball out of them!
Cut them into squares.
Take a Styrofoam ball (what ever size you want the disco ball to be) and paint it silver. (make sure your paint can go on Styrofoam, some paints dissolve it)
Take some e6000 or other craft glue, and glue the CD squares to your ball. (printed side down)
When it dries, hang it using some fishing line!
