I have has both, I like the one inch better. My new one does my very curly hair in about a half an hour. I do it while I am watching television.

it depends on several factors
-how thick is your hair?
-how long is it?
-what will you be using the iron for (ie. just straightening or flipping out the ends too)
if you have long thick hair, it makes sense to go for the 2 inch. that way you'll cover more area in less time. a one inch barrel gives you more control, so if you're doing different looks, it will work better.

One inch- it's big enough to get the job done. a 2 inch would be too bulky.
