By college life I mean, either private school or a University like UC Davis or Berkeley. How is it different from High school? (Expectations, standards, classes, environment) especially if you live on campus or live in a dorm.

I go to a private college--one of the top 30 in the country. The standards are very, very high--but I actually like that. In high school, no one really expected much of you. Where I go, all the teachers think very highly of you, hold you to very high standards, and that makes me work harder.
I have an incredible amount of work, but it's mostly reading and papers (the perks of being an English major) instead of tests/quizzes...and I don't mind doing those things. Since I can take the classes I want, I'm more interested, and so I am happier to do the work and learn a lot more.
In high school, no one really wanted to be there. The only reason people participated in class was because it was part of the grade. Not so in college. We have great discussions most days, and people really get passionate.
You have a lot of freedom. It's amazing to get there and realize, "wow, I don't have a curfew!" So you need to be disciplined and choose when to do work and when to socialize.

Personally I love the rez environment, not for studying (haha) but for social gatherings. Living in rez gives you an opportunity to meet a lot of different people and become great friends. The expectations are higher, but seeing as you're in a lecture hall of 250+ students, the professor doesn't really care if you attend class, thus university is based on self-guidance. You have to be motivated enough to get out of bed everyday to go to class/labs/tutorials. Depending on what university you attend and what faculty you get accepted to, there are different class sizes. But for the most part, all first year and some popular second and third year classes will be held in large lecture halls with at least 200 students. If you're in the Sciences, the labs are 40 students/room and for the Arts, tutorials are usually about 25-30/room. Hope that helps!
