You could write about the Presidential caucuses. There should be plenty of information in newspapers and magazines about now, and you can also find some on the web. Your one-page essay should answer these questions:
What is a Presidential caucus? What states have them? How is a caucus different from a primary election? What happens at one? How do caucuses affect the election? Which candidates in each party have done well in the caucuses? Answer these questions in complete sentences, not just trying to show your teacher what you know, but imagining that you're explaining caucuses to someone who has no idea what they are. By the time you've finished doing that, in your own words, you'll probably have enough to fill a page, and you'll know something!

You could also use the tiger attack that happened at the San Francisco Zoo. Use a simple 3 point essay.
Introduction: Explain what happened
Paragraph 1:Why it happened
Paragraph 2:What is the result?
Paragraph 3:What can be done to prevent this from happening again?
Closing:Give your opinion. Say something like you hope that in the future these things won't happen so that zoos will be a safe place for children to learn. (Teachers love Cheese) You could also say that you don't think we should even have zoos because (insert reason). (Anything could work here, just don't use both, they contradict each other.) Good Luck!

We aren't here to do your project for you, we are here to HELP you with it. I think you should do it on the presidential race. You can write all of the candidates, what they stand for, the current standings, who you want to win and why, and survey some people in your house or whatever and see who they want to win and why. Good luck!
