At the last appointment she was dilated a half centimeter and that was two weeks ago. She is having contraction but we think they are Braxton Hicks. She lost the mucous plug as well. She is having pain in her lower tummy and lower back.

If the contractions get to 5 minutes apart and last about a minute and have been occurring for about an hour then you might want to call the place she is going for delivery. If her water breaks then you should call and go in for a check. True labor doesn't necessarily start after the mucous plug comes out. Only about 5% of woman actually deliver on their due dates and most first babies are usually late. Good Luck! I hope all goes well with your Labor and Delivery experience.

FYI: women can lose the mucous plug and have small contractions for days . . . . . . you are getting close, the end is near . . . . . . but try to remain calm and be ready!!!! Good luck! Everyone is different, I wouldn't go out of town thats for sure!!!

Make sure those bags are packed..I think she's ready to have the baby. Call your doctor and see what they want you to do. Never assume, It's better to be safe. Good luck to you!!
