Their scoring has dipped a bit but they're still top 10 in the league with 101.6 pp (104.3 in07 & 4th in league)

Their defense has gotten better. They were allowing 105 points (3rd worst), now they're in the middle of the pack allowing 98 points per game.

They have received clutch play and shooting for Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison to win close games. There is more ball movement and everyone on the team is more involved and contributing

Brendan Haywood is now averaging nearly a double double a game and Caron Butler has become a regular 20 point scorer while filling up the stat sheet as well. Same with Jamison

They're 11-9 (14-13 overall & 5th East) this season without him and have faced one of the toughest schedules in the NBA (8th toughest) and if they keep it up, they could end up with more wins than last year WITH HIM (34-39) and a higher winning pctg while holding a top seed

Should they let him opt out and sign a true PF and build around Butler and Jamison in the offseason

Frizzer

then how are they winning so many games while holding such a tough schedule then?

just because he takes the most shots and scores a boatload of points in garbage time while shooting a measley 43 percent doesn't mean he's the best overall player on the team

You made a good point.

They seems to have better team chemistry and ball movements.

They can sign a good PF, move Jamison to SF and Butler to SG. Good candidates: Adonis Haslem, Collison, David Lee.
However Wizards are actually quite good in the front with Haywood, Jamison and Butler. Meanwhile trading Arenas will weaken their backcourts.

A shooter will be good as well. Candidates: Raja Bell (a great defender as well), Mike Miller, Jason Terry. However Stevenson is quite good a shooter together with Jamison and Butler.

A better situation is if they sign a good PG. May be Kidd can be persuaded to move to the Capital. The alternative will be Calderon (however Raptors may not let him go with Ford being injured seriously). Or Kirk Hinrich.

The team will be improved a lot.

However who knows Arenas grow up during his recovery by watching how good his teammates play without him and start to understand the role of PG. He is an excellent player actually, a good ball handler and a good clutch shooters. If only he gives up the ball more often he can actually gain more and his team can be much improved. Hypostatically.

Yeah... Arenas hold the ball too long... shoot too much... He is a good player but he just like 1 man show... Caron and Jamison are another key player in the team... If he cant distribute more assist, he better leave... They need a PG that can produce a lot of assists, such as Nash or Kidd, or even Tinsley or Jason Williams also can suit their team I think... Plus they should add another sharp shooter on the bench for SG or SF... then Wizard will be a strong team...

personally i think so. Caron Butler can hold a franchise up. And other teams would give a crapload for Gilbert Arenas even though he is injury prone and he only shoots 40% plus they have Antwaan Jamison and he is definately good enough to be a second man. Trade Gilbert Arenas for a Dominant Big man and a great sharp shooter and the Wizards would be a real threat

Thats real interesting, cuz with certain Superstars that can happen. The other players feel like THEY can shine. Plus they realize they cant defer to "0" when the clocks runnin down. Another thing since Gil is'nt there thats what, like 25-30 more shots for everyone else. I'm with u they seem like a better team, now What happens to him if they dont need him, does he turn into another Francis or Marbury, a very good guard that you cant win with?

i actually think so. there is much more ball movement and team play without gil always dominating the ball and holding on to it for so long. i think it gives the team confidence knowing that they can win without their star player. the defense is a little bit better since gil wasnt a great defender and daniels is a better defender than arenas was.

You may be on to something.Daniels IS more of a pure point.Arenas reminds me of A.Iverson;who is better suited for shooting guard. The Wizards have been called the Suns of the East, but the Suns have a true point running the show.In my opinion the Wizards do not.

he did okay for only playing in 32 games 22.6 points a game 7.2 assists 4.2 rebounds. you better believe he will come back with something to prove the Wizards better keep him
