The Bengals were bad this year due to a number of factors. One was their horrible defense. They were awful against both the run and the pass. Also, the suspension of Chris Henry kinda put a damper on their offense, especially when Ocho Cinco and Rudi Johnson got hurt. In addition, when Rudi Johnson and Kenny Watson were healthy they really couldn't run the ball effectively behind a below average/poor line that lost Eric Steinbach to Cleveland. Oh, and finally the surging Cleveland Browns. It seemed like the Bengals didn't play well after the first meeting with the Browns...

Poor Defense.... So if there offense would not put up 35+ points a week then they were staring a loss in the face

There offense is average ot a little above but there defense is so bad that there offense can't score enough to compensate

their defense was horrible, they could never slow anyone down, they let the 9ers with a 3rd string QB beat them. they gave up big plays and never stopped anyone on 3rd down which let the other team continue to drive.

Poor defense and players who could not stay out of trouble --- too many off-the-field distractions.

Cause Ocho-Cinco cant keep his mouth shut....the team couldnt afford the bail amounts on all their players. Overall, no cohesiveness
