if it's gold, you could take it to a pawnbroker or jewellry store to get it valued and possibly sold to be metled down. You might get some reasonable money for it. If it has jewels in it, all the better.

Make it into a necklace. Or hang it somewhere in your house as a decoration. Or give it as a gift to a man who has one ear pierced. And you know as soon as you do, you will find the other one. Sigh!

I use them for pins on my notice board at work! (own a tanning salon! hehe) Everyone that comes in who has lost an earring that day usually sticks it on there too
