Pitch to Ichiro. I think I'd have a better chance (albeit a very slim chance) of getting Ichiro out than I would have at getting a hit off of Papelbon.

Tough choice, but I think I would rather hit off Papalbon, than pitch to Ichiro. Having watched Red Sox v Mariner from behind home plate, I have to say that Ichiro is pretty much the man. He can make the best of a bad pitch. And a pitcher is more likely to make mistake than a hitter.

Pitch to Ichiro! All he can do is hit singles (unless it's right back up the middle at my head :)

Have you seen the evil glare from Pap before every pitch? Scary!!!

Are you all kidding me? Ichiro is unstoppable, he's so fast, he can turn one tinny mistake into an extra base.

Papelbon has good stuff, but he is not as intimidating as Mariano Rivera, or Billy Wagner, or other guys.

Has anyone had success vs. Ichiro in their career? No

I like to hit so I would rather take a couple hacks against Papelbon. I can't throw that hard anyways.

Since a great hitter needs to hit the ball only 3 times out of 10 but a good pitcher needs to allow less than 2 runs a game - You odds of being good are greater as a hitter than a pitcher. (maybe that's why there are so few good pitchers . . .)
But I digress. I would rather hit than pitch - I have a greater chance of not making a fool of myself hitting than pitching - - -
Isn't that the whole thought behind this question?

pitch to Ichiro is easy compared to Papalbon.

Definetly pitch against ichiro. He has about a 1/3 of a chance of getting on base against you (because he has about a .300 batting average). But Papalbon has about a 1 era. He's pretty much lights out. But maybe it's because im a Red Sox fan.
